¿1.50 Kernel support on 3.71 M33?

I read that DAX is preparing a patch to allow the 1.50 kernel on the new firmware, because most of homebrew does not work on it, i’m trying to port Powermgr to this new kernel, but it is being so difficult to me, because I have many difficulties on the porting task.

So, i will try the port, but you’ll probably have to wait to DAX to rollout the patch.

Compatibility issues with 3.71 M33

I recently updated to the 3.71 M33 and tried to use my own plugin, the result, it does not work but not only my plugin, no plugin works because there is no support for the 1.50 kernel.

I will try to adapt to the new 3.71 kernel as soon as possible, but i suspect that i’ll have to rewrite many things from scratch, so please be patient, your patience will be rewarded

Alone…

Okay guys, with this post I start a new category of posts about several thoughts I have, apart from the PSP, in order to post more frequently and not to only mirror news from PSPUpdates.

As you read in this post title I’m alone, not of friends, I have plenty of them they’re real friends because I met many of them when I was 4.

The way in which I’m alone is in the girlfriends way, I haven’t had any, many girls left me brokenhearted, they say me “Oh, what a good guy are you, you’re charming” but when you tell them “I love you” they simply don’t want you…

SGE Library

I found today on PSPUpdates this handy library to help develop my own projects, it serves as an interface to SDL and Freetype, i’m sure i’ll use this in future software for the PSP.

It is a port of the PS2 SGE Library to the PlayStation Portable, it is open source and it must be distributed under the GPL or the LGPL.

Via PSPUpdates you can read this:

Homebrew developer SamuraiX (known for his work on OpenBoR) has released the SGE Library r030809 for the PSP. For those not familiar with it, SGE is a graphic library for the Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL). Essentially a low level API, the preset graphics functions found in this release, should make coding homebrew easier.

The developer originally downloaded a version of SGE library from ps2.org but found it to be lacking support for SDL_image, Freetype, and the C++ Class. Because of this, SamuraiX decided to port the source and essentially created a version which has all the functions he needed as well as the standard functions developers expect from SGE.

Revision for Power Management Plugin

Actually i’m waiting to the new release of the M33 Team of their new Custom Firmware based on the 3.71 firmware, when it is released i’ll start working in the next revision of Power Management Plugin, the 0.22 it will be a minor release limked against the libraries that M33 provided with their SDK.

3.71 Update

The changes will be minimum, an they’ll be these ones:

  • Compatibility with the new PSP Slim, it is uncertain if previous releases work with the new PSP
  • Linkage against a PSPSDK updated with the M33 Libraries
  • It is not sure if it will work with Wildcard firmwares

This 0.22 is likely to be one of the final releases of the plugin, it will be maintained with bug fixing, but no new features are going to be implemented, at the moment i’m working in other developement projects not linked with the PSP, but when I finish the I will try to make something fresh and new because getting stuck with this plugin has no sense.

Enjoy of your new PSP Slim to the new owners!

PSP Firmware 3.71 is underway

Via PSPUpdates.com we can read the following:

Playstation Network Operations Director Eric Lempel dropped by the official PlayStation Blog and informed all PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable owners that new firmware updates are coming their way. A part of Lempel’s post read:

Taking into account customer feedback and some internal testing, we will be making available in the next few days a firmware update for the PS3 (1.93) that fixes the network disconnect issue that some of you have experienced as a result of downloading Firmware 1.92.

In addition, we are adding a new firmware update for PSP (3.71) as well, which adds many features that readers of this blog have requested.

It was only yesterday when the official FW 3.70 was found lurking over at the official PlayStation site for Japan. There was a changelog for our friends back there but North American users and the rest of the world are wondering what new things have been added to the new firmware.

Eric Lempel touched on the topic as well, and mentioned that the main thing that had been added is the ability to set themes on the handheld. He explained further:

  • Once you have downloaded a theme, under settings, go to theme settings, select theme and then custom theme to choose the one you want to display.
  • You can also now play music while viewing photos or a slideshow. First begin playing a track saved on your memory stick, press the HOME or SELECT button, then navigate to your photos under the Photo icon and begin viewing.
  • We’ve added several other features including scene search for movies, and you’ll be able to read about them in more depth on the usual update page once it goes live.

Check back here at QJ.NET to remain updated with the future firmware developments for the PS3 and PSP.

0.21 Version

  • On Screen notiications when you activate a mode are displayed, thes ones are a bit experimental, so their behaviour may not be the adequate under some situations.
  • The Software Full Power Off has been modified, it now turns off completely the system without risk of crash. If PowerLock is active, the Software Power Off will be locked too.
  • The plugin seems to work in all the places of the XMB but is recommendable to turn modes in the XMB root to avoid conflicts with button press combos, crashes seem to have been bypassed.
